Deco Brooch in Wall Nicho
Don't you hate putting your pretty things in a drawer?
Now you don't have to. This brooch comes with a fitted case that hangs on the wall. Luxuriously lined with viridian blue velour and gold leaf, the Mexican nicho perfectly frames and protects. The nicho itself is a high-quality example, with no sharp edges or loose joins. I have given the exterior a subtle lift with touches of gold.
The brooch itself is created on a vintage Art Deco-style piece I picked up from a street vendor in Athens. It is sterling silver, set with marcasite and a square-cut stone of pale blue, either topaz or aquamarine. It appears to have some age to it, and is in very fine condition, with a locking clasp.
I have given it an update with added drama by incorporating a botanical shape in fine merino wool felt and black cotton tassels. Inside the petals are translucent white tube-form shells and black leaf sequins.
It's a statement pin, one to wear on a lapel or luxurious sweater. Black and white jewelry is always right!
The brooch measures 4.25 inches long, by 4 inches wide (10.6cm x 10cm).
