Inspired design during 5 days of creativity and fun in Nova Scotia!
July 21-27, 2019
St. Bernard, Nova Scotia

This project allows for a great deal of freedom in design. I am a believer in sharing my skills and experience, and guiding rather than dictating your process of creation. I have found some original ways of putting these materials together, and it is my sincere hope that this workshop will encourage your own creative thinking.
It is very important to me that you feel connected to your completed piece.

The Project:
I will bring premade sterling silver frames with wire settings, lots to choose from, and match up with your choice of a pair of marvelous mini geodes. These tiny natural wonders come in a wide array of sizes, shapes, and colors--and they sparkle like mad.
We'll prepare the settings by needlefelting wool and wiring it in to the frame, and do some embellishment before actually setting the stones. You might choose to make your piece into a brooch or a pendant or even something else. I'll be there to help, and with class limited to 6 students there will be plenty of time for all.
Embellishment may include bead embroidery, applique, beadweaving, feathers, sequins, or all of the above. We'll even create some of our own. Wild card possibilities include feathers, ribbons, silk cocoons, shrink plastic, and vintage elements.

Students should have good but not necessarily advanced wire-working skills. If you are comfortable making a nice clean wrapped loop, you're set. And if you aren't, there's time to learn, so start practicing!

I will bring a variety of Mexican 'tin' nichos to decorate; these will house our completed works of art. These can be plain or fancy, I will bring a collection of materials for us to play with!
Our hostess will be the elegant Sam Norgard, Professor at Savannah College of Art and Design. Sam has agreed to give us a talk one day on the principles of good design! And we'll enjoy outings to nearby towns and restaurants as well.

Tuition is $1200 and includes:
-all materials and instruction
-6 nights accommodation
-breakfast and lunch, dinners are not included.

The studio will be open from 9 am - 9 pm.

$500 non-refundable deposit will hold your seat.
(in the event we are forced to cancel the event deposits WILL be refunded)

Full payment must be complete by July 8.

I recommend a visit to to learn more about Sam and her beautiful venue.
